It was available for some time and we observed below things.
All captured Pikachu has vital chance to become lucky pokemon. If you’re a big fan of this game and playing it from longer time then older pokemon can have chance to become lucky one than recent captured Pikachu. You can identify lucky pokemon with special background in your collection or Pokedex, the Pokedex will find how many you have from each species.

With this new update you can sort and nickname friends on your Friend List and add Stardust as a potential reward from Gifts.
They don’t have better performance in battle but this is related to trade. This will helps as another incentive to keep passing Pokémon back and for the between you and your friends.
While the accurate reduction isn’t clear, older pokemon of your storage end up with Lucky Pokémon when traded. We don’t have correct figures on how all this works yet, but the game developers are making perfect data a content to figure it out for perfect measurement
Few reports are saying that lucky Pokémon needs half the Stardust and Candy to power up than regular Pokémon which make them much more efficient to power up. We all know that power up is expensive to stardust of pokemons. So the reduction of pokémon power up can be a huge bonus. Add on the fact that trading itself needs Stardust, frequently quite a lot, and it remains the most important resource in the game.
It will promote the game naturally for more trading than usual as you’re will search to keep trading to try and get Lucky Pokémon that are simple for you and your friends to power up even though all slots filled.
You can easily track Lucky pokemon in your dex with different glitter background. Again, it’s not yet clear on how often you’ll be getting these, or what the storage time-to-Lucky exchange rate is, but expectantly it’s enough so you’ll get this more than one time in a blue moon.
Tips to Trade Pokemon and make it Lucky
Here is the process of “how you can get lucky pokemon”. Just assume you and the person you want to trade with are level 10 and higher:
- You have to Become “Friends” with the person you want to trade with. (get his/her Trainer Code and send them a Friend request. Once they accept, you’re friends.)
- Contact with the Friend you want to trade with. (You both must be within 100 meters radios for trading.)
- Select the Pokémon you want to trade and have your Friend select the Pokémon they want to trade for it.
- Review the Trade information and make sure you’re happy with them, including the CP and HP ranges. (IV is re-rolled when you trade, so it’s better to trade low IV Pokémon in hopes of improving them, and never trade a 100% Pokémon because you’ll almost definitely lose those stats.)
- Tap Next.
- Review the Trade one last time.
- Tap Confirm.
